ENGINE: QSB6,7-C165 six-cylinder in-line, four-stroke, turbocharged and air-to air after cooled, liquid-cooled diesel engine manufactured by Cummins. Cylinder bore and piston stroke -120 mm x136.4 mm Engine displacement- 6.7 L Operating power-110 kW (150 h.p.) at 2000 rpm Max. torque - not lower than 800 Nm at 1300 - 1500 rpm Engine with Quantum system, containing electronic system of fuel injection, diagnostics, engine protection and control. Oil cleaning system with full-flow filter and one replaceable filtering element. Fuel purification system consists of Fleetguard coarse filter and fine filter mounted on the engine. Cooling system consists of three-section block of radiators: coolant radiator, transmission oil-cooling radiator and after cooler. Coolant filter with one replaceable filtering element is mounted on the engine. Heat condition control is run by thermostat and fan's double.

PIPELAYING EQUIPMENT:
Load lifting capacity - 12 500 kg. Rated lifting capacity - 26 500 kg. Is designed to lay pipes into trenches and to perform other handling operations. Sheave blocks ratio: loading-4, boom-4 Hook: The hook is triggered through sheave block system by the winch. Hook lift (overhang) -1.5-1.6 m. Hook raise/lower speeds at 2,000 rpm, 8 -21 m/min Boom: The welded, box-sectioned boom is triggered through sheave block system by the inch. Boom length-7 m. Boom weight-1,150 kg. Winch: Hydraulically controlled, double drum winch. Closed type disk brakes. Winch overall dimensions: Drum (diameter x width), mm - 325 x 255. Cable dimensions (diameter x length): hook-16 mm x46 M, boom-16 mmx46 m Counterweights: Segmented 4-plate type of 423 kg each mounted on the counterweight frame. Hydraulically controlled by NSh-100 pump, section of the general distributor and 100 mm diameter hydraulic cylinder.

GEARBOX: A planetary-type gearbox with oil operating, high capacity torque transmitting clutches 345 mm in diameter provides three forward gears and three reverse ones with gear shifting under load. As per design the gearbox is connected with matching reducing gear and main drive forming a single power unit mounted in the rear axle case. A three-element one-stage torque converter with efficient diameter of 390 mm, maximum transformation ratio K. = 2.539 with pumps drive reduction gear is connected with the gearbox by spline coupling and mounted on the front wall of the rear axle. Torque converter is connected with the engine through drive line and engine mounted elastic clutch.

SWING CONTROL AND BRAKING: Swing control and braking are done by operator's fingers pressing key switches on instrument panel. Control signal is then transmitted to steering clutch and stopping brakes control valves. Steering clutches are hydraulically actuated multiple disk clutches. Stopping brakes are multiple disk clutches constantly closed by spring forces. Steering clutches and brakes are pressure oil cooled and don't need to be regulated during the whole lifetime. Every unit is serviced as one whole.

FINAL DRIVE: Final drive is double-stage: the 1st stage consists of outside diameter gears; the 2d stage is planetary with "k+1" scheme (with a stopped crown gear). In order to facilitate replacement in field conditions the driving sprocket is made of five sectors that are fastened by bolts.

UNDERCARRIAGE: Suspension: rigid, with a transverse beam. Track rollers, support rollers and idlers feature life-time lubrication and self-adjusting "duo-cone" type seals. The number of track rollers (from each side) is 8. The number of support rollers (from each side) is 2. Track chains: assembled with one grouser track shoes and a seal package for retaining fluid lubricant in a hinge promoting increase of life time. The track chain tension can be easily adjusted using a grease gun. A pitch of a track link is 203 mm. The number of shoes (from each side) is 43. Grouser height is65 mm. Width of a shoe is 560 mm. Ground contact area-3,385 Sq.M Ground pressure, not more than - 0,66 kgf/cm2

BOOM AND HOOK DRUM DRIVE AND THEIR CONTROL: A boom and a hook winches are driven by hydraulic motors. Control of hydraulic motors is provided by distributor which enables rotation of boom and hook drums simultaneously at any gear and in any direction. A hydraulic system features double cleaning system with replaceable paper filtering elements and forms a single unit with transmission hydraulic system. Due to that temperatures in both systems of the pipe layer are universally maintained. Winch drives have planetary systems built- in drums as well as double speed gearbox with a normally applied brake and overrunning clutch to avoid brake release when moving uphill. Forced lubrication and cooling of bearings, pinions and brakes of a drive. Winch drive design allows replacing of any module without dismantling of the whole drive from a pipe layer.
